The new Summer Menu is up here, (edit: oops sorry it has gone for the moment) because Summer has started in Melbourne.
Our summers tend to go in heat waves, followed by cool changes, and the produce changes quite a bit from December to February, so this menu was a challenge. I’ve fitted in Chicken, Beef, Lamb, Pork, Fish and Vegetarian meals trying to make the small menu (only a choice of 2 main meals each day!) suit a variety of tastes. Let me know what you think! I had a great meeting with our consultant chef to get feedback, and we are starting on stock lists and suppliers lists so I can have a better idea how such food meets the budget. I’m getting better at making the menu work from a professional chefs point of view.
Also Rose and I plan to make some meals so we can show you recipes and photos to whet your appetites for YamDaisy meals. If you cook any of these meals we’d love to see photos and hear how it tasted! I’m very happy to put links to your blog etc. In fact you will see a couple of links already! The Red Rice (Friday Week 2) was suggested by Coleen and the link goes to her blog. Thanks Coleen! And Kathi suggested Texas Cowboy Caviar that is part of Wednesday’s meal (Week 2), and I found one of my favourite blogs has a post with recipe and history of the dish, so that the link there!
Oh and I was in the Preston Leader this week: one suburb over from the Northcote Leader, it is where we are planning to put the cafe, so that’s great. Plus there is a pic!
